Application:
The U5MK1088 oil pressure sensor is designed for the Perkins T4.236, AT4.236 and 4.236 turbocharged four-cylinder diesels (4.0 L), and is equally at home on the 1104C-E44, 1104C-E44T, 1104C-E44TA, 1106C-E60TA and 1106D-E66TA engines that drive Massey Ferguson 3635-399 tractors, JCB Loadall tele-handlers, FG Wilson 40–150 kVA generator sets and a broad range of industrial sweepers, forklifts and mobile compressors. In these applications the sensor continuously monitors main-gallery oil pressure, converting it to a 0–5 V analogue signal that is fed to the engine control unit; if pressure drops below the calibrated safety threshold the ECU triggers an immediate warning lamp and can derate or shut down the engine to protect bearings, turbochargers and high-pressure fuel pumps from catastrophic damage.
Technical specifications:
The unit is a three-wire piezo-resistive pressure transducer housed in a brass body with a 1/8" NPTF male thread and 19 mm hex. It measures 0–10 bar (0–145 psi) with ±2 % full-scale accuracy, outputs a linear 0.5–4.5 V signal referenced to a 5 V supply and draws <10 mA at 12 V. Operating temperature spans –40 °C to +125 °C and the sensor withstands 1 000 h salt-spray exposure per ASTM B117.
Material & performance features:
The sensing diaphragm is 17-4 PH stainless steel, laser-welded to the brass body for absolute hermetic sealing and protected by a sintered brass snubber that damps pressure pulsations and prevents oil-borne debris from reaching the element. Internal circuitry is over-moulded in high-temperature PPS resin, achieving IP67 ingress protection and surviving 500 thermal-shock cycles from –40 °C to +125 °C without calibration drift.
