Application:
The 2874A004 oil pressure sensor is engineered for Perkins 1103D-33, 1103D-33T, 1104D-44, 1104D-44T, 1106D-E66TA and 1206D-E70TA turbocharged four- and six-cylinder diesels, and is equally at home on the 404D-22, 404D-22T and 404D-22TA compact engines. These power units drive agricultural tractors, combine harvesters, 40–150 kVA generator sets, tele-handlers, skid-steer loaders and light construction machinery. In these applications the sensor continuously monitors main-gallery oil pressure and transmits a real-time 0–5 V analogue signal to the engine control unit; should pressure drop below the calibrated safety threshold, the ECU triggers an immediate warning lamp and can derate or shut down the engine to protect crankshaft bearings, turbochargers and high-pressure fuel pumps from catastrophic damage.
Technical specifications:
The unit is a three-wire piezo-resistive pressure transducer housed in a brass body with a 1/8" NPTF male thread and 19 mm hex. It measures 0–10 bar (0–145 psi) with ±2 % full-scale accuracy, outputs a linear 0.5–4.5 V signal referenced to a 5 V supply and draws <10 mA at 12 V. Operating temperature spans –40 °C to +125 °C and the sensor withstands 1 000 h salt-spray exposure per ASTM B117.
Material & performance features:
The sensing diaphragm is 17-4 PH stainless steel, laser-welded to the brass body for absolute hermetic sealing and protected by a sintered brass snubber that damps pressure pulsations and prevents oil-borne debris from reaching the element. Internal circuitry is over-moulded in high-temperature PPS resin, achieving IP67 ingress protection and surviving 500 thermal-shock cycles from –40 °C to +125 °C without calibration drift. Each sensor is factory-calibrated on a three-point curve, laser-marked with its unique serial number and date code, and supplied with a captive copper crush-washer for immediate, leak-free installation.
