Application:
The 2874A007 oil pressure sensor is engineered for the Perkins 1104C-E44TA, 1104D-E44TA and 1106C-E60TA turbocharged four- and six-cylinder diesels, and is equally at home on the 1004-4T, 1006-6T and 404D-22T family engines. These power units are widely used across Massey Ferguson 5400, 6400 and 7400 Series Tier 3 agricultural tractors, combine harvesters, 40–150 kVA generator sets, tele-handlers, skid-steer loaders and light construction machinery. In these applications the sensor threads into the main oil gallery and continuously monitors lubricating-oil pressure, sending a real-time 0–5 V analogue signal to the engine control unit. Should pressure fall below the calibrated safety threshold, the ECU triggers an immediate warning lamp and can derate or shut down the engine to protect crankshaft bearings, turbochargers and high-pressure fuel pumps from catastrophic damage.

The unit is a three-wire piezo-resistive pressure transducer housed in a brass body with 1/8" NPTF male thread and 19 mm hex, 58 mm overall length and 70 g net weight. It measures 0–10 bar (0–145 psi) with ±2 % full-scale accuracy, outputs a linear 0.5–4.5 V signal referenced to a 5 V supply and draws <10 mA at 12 V. Operating temperature spans –40 °C to +125 °C and the sensor withstands 1 000 h salt-spray exposure per ASTM B117. Electrical connection is via a sealed three-way Metri-Pack 150 Series connector with tin-plated terminals rated for 20 g vibration and 50 g shock, while the compact dimensions allow easy installation in confined engine bays.
Material & performance features:
The sensing diaphragm is 17-4 PH stainless steel, laser-welded to the brass body for absolute hermetic sealing and protected by a sintered brass snubber that damps pressure pulsations and prevents oil-borne debris from reaching the element. Internal circuitry is over-moulded in high-temperature PPS resin, achieving IP67 ingress protection and surviving 500 thermal-shock cycles from –40 °C to +125 °C without calibration drift.
